The Hiebert family contacted Drafting Smith to turn their basement into an income-generating rental suite. The goal was to create a comfortable, functional living space that would attract tenants. The design features a modern kitchen, open-concept living and dining area, and private bedroom, making the most of the available space.

Can you design something similar to a project shown here?
Yes. These projects show the kind of work we do, but every design is developed around its own property and priorities. If something here is close to what you have in mind, mention it in your estimate request and we can talk about how a similar idea could work on your lot or in your home.
Are these photos of finished projects?
Some are. Others are design renderings or drawings prepared before construction. Together they show the range of work, from early design through to the finished space.
Do you only work on projects like these?
No. This is a selection. Drafting Smith works on custom homes, cottages, renovations and additions, basement developments, secondary suites, garages, shops and residential permit drawing packages.
Do you work with builders and contractors as well as homeowners?
Yes. Some of these projects came to us directly from homeowners and others through builders and contractors. We can coordinate with whoever needs to be involved.
